SURPRISE - SUper-Resolved comPRessive InStrument in the visible and medium infrared for Earth observation applications
Saitec is involved as a partner in the SURPRISE research project, funded by the European Union, within Horizon2020 innovation programs.
EO (Earth Observation) is increasingly important for understanding our planet and how socio-environmental challenges are addressed, but currently applications for data collection and management are affected by long review times and low spatial resolution.
Thanks to the use of two technologies, namely SLM (Spatial Light Modulators) and CS (Compressive Sensing), SURPRISE project concerns the development of a disruptive innovative super-spectral payload (sensor) demonstrator with advanced spatial resolution, on board data processing capabilities and encryption functionality.
RUOLO DI SAITEC
Saitec is in charge of the development and manufactoring of TSS (Target Scanning System) instrument, a mechanical structure composed of highly precise motorized stages: the very high repeatability of linear and angular movements in the order, respectively of microns and seconds of arc, and the ability to support different types of targets with macropixels that are observed by the demonstrator itself are the main specifications for the realization of the aforementioned system. Saitec is also responsible for software development for the interface with the Master Unit and for the motorized axes control, as well as the manufactoring of the Control Unit necessary for the correct execution of the tests.
