SKYWARD-G IRST AIDA (Advanced Infrared Detecting Assembly), used on board military fighters, is a radar system operating in the LWIR spectrum, able to detect the IR radiations emitted by objects and backgrounds, in order to engage different targets or allow the reconstruction of the observed scenario.
The system is composed by three subsystems: AIDA IR Dome, that is the entry window of the system, external to the aircraft, AIDA Imager, the electro-optical core of the instrument that receives the IR radiations from the dome, AIDA ICP (Image Controller and Processor), which controls the thermal chamber and processes the IR signals.
